Our Approach

From the containers we use for our candles down to our business cards we strive to do everything with purpose to have a positive social and environmental impact. We also include our sources below for transparency and to honor those who have helped us get to where we are today.

Handmade & Recycled Containers

For our containers we use Ceramics, Tin Can, & other reclaimed containers (tentatively sold at the Athens Farmer's Market). Our ceramics are handmade at a local studio, Good Dirt (http://gooddirt.net). All pieces are thrown, glazed & fired at the studio. With our Tin Cans we donate all the food from the cans to a local homeless organization, Athens PBJs. Check them out here (http://www.athenspbjs.org/about) & if you're interested in getting involved or have any questions just shoot us an email & we'll get you connected! So, whether it's Ceramics, Tin Cans, or other reclaimed containers you're helping promote local art or feed others.

Refills & Repurposing Our Containers

With all of our containers we offer a refill program* to promote reuse and recycling. By getting a refill or exchanging your conainerl you're helping to reduce the amount of containers that end up in the landfill, but you also get a discounted candle in the process. So, every time you opt to save your container you can do one of two things: 1) exchange your empty mason jar or tin can for 15% off another candle of equal value or 2) get your own tin can, mason jar, or ceramic container refilled for 30% of its original value. If you're interested in getting a refill for a container visit our Contact Us page and drop a form submission to let us know you want a container refilled!

If you'd rather get crafty with our containers post-use then feel free to clean out your container with hot water and soap, making sure to get all the wax and glue dots out of the piece. Use the container as a cup, fill it with a plant, or get creative. Tag us on social media repurposing your containers!

*Currently only offered in the Athens and Monroe areas.

Reclaimed T-shirt Business Cards

Our business cards are produced from recycled t-shirt fabric. In the process of producing shirts there are parts of fabric that can't be used so some pretty cool people, at Moo.com, had the idea of using these cutoffs to make business cards. Sustainable Candle Contents

Wax

All of our wax is made from soy beans grown in the U.S. (http://ngielements.com/why-soy/). By supporting soy wax you're supporting domestic products and promoting a renewable resource.

Wicks

Our wood wicks that crackle when they burn are sourced from sustainable lumber farms and every purchase you make helps plant more trees (https://www.woodenwick.com/giving-back/).

Fragrance Oils

Finally, all of our fragrances are infused with essential oils (https://www.candlescience.com/learning/whats-in-fragrance-oil). Woo let's get natural!

1000 Faces Coffee Upcycled Burlap

Since December 2017 we began to upcycle burlap from coffee bean bags from 1000 Faces Coffee in downtown Athens. This allows us to repurpose material that would potentially end up in the landfill. The burlap wraps all of our Tin Cans and serves as a heat insulator.

Future Goals

We're always looking to have more of an impact. By 2020 we hope to donate 20% of profits to local nonprofits and other organizations seeking to serve the community and make the planet a better place.

When it comes to sustainability we strive to have little carbon footprint, reclaim and upcycle materials, and promote sustainable practices. Our hope is to have 90% of our materials made or sourced from sustainable or recycled materials.
