About the Role

The Production Assistant is responsible for the creation of all Rekindle products we make, including, but not limited to: candles, diffusers, car beads, wholesale orders, and custom orders. This role relies on attention to detail, some simple math, and some lifting of heavy boxes and trays. It  also requires maintaining a clean work environment and keeping things tidy as they work. The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic about the ideation and production of candles and would work well on a team. This role is collaborative, precise, and fun! This role reports to the Store Manager.

Our shop associate is the face of our store when each customer comes in. They are responsible for maintaining the retail space, restocking, checking out customers, and generally keeping an eye on inventory, plants, and cleanliness of the store. This is a highly relational position and personability is a high value of our company. Also, required of this role is a taste for interior design and decorating spaces in a way that are attractive and aesthetically pleasing so as to give customers the best shopping experience. This role reports to the Store Manager. 

Responsibilities/Requirements

• Have basic math skills and understanding (eg percentages, ratios, rounding, simple algebra)
• Be able to lift/move 45lb boxes at a time
• Be able to handle and pour pitchers of hot wax, weighing up to 5lbs
• Refill wax melters when ⅓-¼ remaining
• Be able to move and shelf candles on a tray weighing up to 30-40lbs
• Become proficient in the product making process
• Clean out and reuse old jars
• Touch up and bag class candles
• Collaborate with others on creating and updating products
• Empty trash when full and break down boxes when finished using them
• Maintain clean and organized workspace and store, and restock when necessary
• Replace materials when not in use or when done using
• Notify manager when materials are low or write down in task management software
• Clean jars and lids between jobs
• Be familiar with and able to communicate with customers regarding our products and initiatives
• Operate our POS system to check out customers and process exchanges and refunds
• Don’t be a traditional salesperson. We believe in our products, so we want people who are passionate about them as well
• Get to know people, be social, and look for opportunities to connect people over products
• Welcome class participants
• Take out trash and weigh recycling boxes when full
• Clean restroom once a week and work with manager to hop in and maintain clean store
• Count cash drawer at beginning and end of day
• Report any discrepancies to a manager
• Remove excess cash at end of day
• Notify manager when bills or coins are low
• Be familiar with common houseplants, general plant care advice, know how to pot plants
• Sweep and vacuum once a week or as needed (especially if it’s Fall)
• Water plants once a week
• Between tasks/customers: cleans jars/lids; stamp retail bags
• Open store at beginning of day and close at end of day (refer to Opening/Closing Lists)
